Laura Steger

Title Research Specialist

I first worked with Jim as an REU in Colorado studying the effects of atmospheric nitrogen deposition on nutrient availability and phytoplankton nutrient limitation in alpine lakes. The following year took us to Norway where we continued studies on the effects of atmospheric nitrogen deposition. The results of these studies were published in 2009 in Science and Ecology and can be found on the Publications page.

After graduating from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor's in Biology and a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies, I worked as an environmental consultant primarily conducting aquatic baseline studies and wetland surveys for proposed mines in Alaska.

In February 2011 I joined the Elser Lab with the departure of their long-time Senior Research Specialist, Marcia Kyle. I had the pleasure of working with Marcia in Colorado and Norway and it is an honor to take her place in the lab.
