I received a BS in Integrated Environmental Science and a BA in Political Science from Johnson State College in Vermont. I worked in the geology lab with Dr. Leslie Kanat and tutored chemistry, biology, Earth science, and Spanish classes. My undergraduate thesis on riparian restoration culminated in planting over 300 trees and shrubs on the banks of a stream on the college campus where a dam had been removed.

For seven years I worked in the renewable energy field at the Biomass Energy Resource Center, where I studied the environmental impacts of biomass energy and assessed the feasibility of installing community-scale biomass energy across regions and at individual facilities.

I am interested in studying the correlations between the elemental stoichiometry of microorganisms and the geochemistry of associated geological formations, such as stromatolites and desert crusts.
